Patrycja Kos (co-founder and associate member)

My serious adventure with art started at the age of 6 when I won my first art award, throughout primary school and then into high school I continued to take part in numerous art projects and received awards in drawing, painting, sculpting, dance, acting, singing, writing and poetry. I have collaborated with numerous local artists and planned to study art however eventually I decided to study different subject and dropped art for many years. I returned to Art soon after my daughter was born, she too is an artist and a member of RAA.

My aim is to reuse and upcycle materials that otherwise would end up on the landfill, I believe we can create interesting objects from what many think of as rubbish. So I try to be eco friendly with my art. Some time ago, I joined forces with Judy and we created Rainforest Appreciation Artists, inspired by her passion for art and the Rainforest and the in-depth knowledge of the matter.

I have my own studio where I concentrate mainly on the creative process itself rather then working towards the end result. I currently collaborate with numerous local artists and also organise workshops and impromptu art sessions where my main object is to help participants to re-discover their own creativity, I work with a variety of materials and techniques.

I operate under Yaga Art name and you can find me here https://www.facebook.com/AlmondburyYagaArt

Patrycja, an artist and crafter who loves exploring various materials and ways to create unique items, says: “Recycling is my top priority, so items I create are in most cases made out of things that are no longer used or have been thrown away.”

The collaboration between Patrycja and Judy began in October 2019, when they met at an ‘Endangered Rainforest Creature’ art workshop which Judy was running as part of Huddersfield Art Society’s programme of events. The artists went on to run a workshop together in January 2020 and another one in February.
